What is a SnappBattTM tile roofing shim?
SnappBattTM tile roofing shim is a rot-resistant plastic shim that snaps onto the tile, elevates the tile off the deck approximately 3/8" and then the standard nail is fastened through the SnappBattTM shim and tile as typical.
Why do I want a SnappBattTM tile roofing shim?
SnappBattTM tile roofing shims will replace the old traditional, expensive and time consuming batten and lath systems
that are currently being used. After
many years of product design and testing, we are ready to release this new
product that we believe will revolutionize the installation of concrete and
clay tile roofs. The flow through design
allows for cooler roofs and significantly less trapped debris. Without the need to install lath or battens,
the time saved will be immense.
Is it true SnappBattTM tile roofing shims can be used in a Random-Staggered™ pattern?
Yes, up to 7:12,
the tiles can be installed in a Random-Staggered™
pattern. The layout exposure would be
reduced to accommodate the amount of stagger (typically ½” – 1 ½” reduction).
The tiles then would be installed in a Random-Staggered™ pattern on and above the chalk-line (based on
exposure) as desired. This would create a truly random layout.
SnappBatt™ tile roofing shims can also be used with a standard batten & lath (3/8” thick lath) or elevated system that uses 3/8” shims. As above, the layout exposure would be reduced to accommodate the amount of stagger (typically ½” – 1 ½” reduction). The SnappBatt™ shim would be installed on the tiles that will be in a Random-Staggered™ pattern installed above the batten-line to create a truly random layout. One SnappBatt™ tile roofing shim should be used up to 7:12 and two SnappBatt™ tile roofing shims above 7:12 installations.
